For Telemarkers who would rather leave the tracks than follow them!

Join us in the French Alps for some backcountry adventure, powder hunting, mountain exploration and relaxed chalet life with fellow free-heel skiers.

Following the success of our first Telemark Freeride Safari in 2026, we will host 2 week-long ‘Telemark Freeride Safaris’ aimed at those with a good intermediate to advanced level of Telemark experience who are looking to take their Telemark skiing to the next level!

The aim of these weeks is to improve your Telemark skiing technique and backcountry confidence while experiencing different ski areas and terrains here in the Haute-Savoie. Starting in the Grand Massif we will provide instruction and guiding for Telemark skiers who wish to improve their off-piste freeriding skills and seek adventure in the backcountry.

The weeks will begin with 2-3 days in the Grand Massif, focusing on your technical skills with our friend and local Telemark ski instructor, Thibault Sollier, from ZigZag ski school in Samoëns. For the remainder of the week we will explore other local resorts (subject to snow & weather conditions) e.g Chamonix, Portes du Soleil, Courmayeur, all of which are within an hour’s drive from the chalet.

Because the best snow conditions are rarely the easiest to reach, some ski touring will be involved.

To round off the week, the final 2 days will include the additional services of a qualified high mountain guide, giving us the opportunity to explore more technical terrain beyond the usual routes.

Dates & Prices

Saturday 9th January 2027 & Saturday 13th March 2027

Price - 1,750€ per person based on 2 people sharing a twin or double room with private en-suite. For those not wishing to share, a single occupancy supplement of 300€ will be applied (subject to availability).

Group size - in order to create the best group dynamic and overall experience, weeks will run with 6-8 participants, made up of individuals and/or mixed groups. If group sizes exceed 6 participants, an additional instructor will be provided, enabling the group to be divided into smaller groups of similar ability levels. This ensures a more personalised experience and allows everyone to progress and explore terrain at a pace suited to them.

Additional expenses:

  • Lift Passes approximatly 300€ (Grand Massif and other resorts, subject to conditions)

  • Lunches, snacks and drinks outside the chalet

  • Equipment hire

Telemark Freeride Safari 2026

Is this for me?

Physical requirements.

Telemark skiing is naturally physical, and venturing off-piste is even more so. Participants should have a good level of fitness, be comfortable ski touring or book packing for up to an hour, when required. Be able to ski red and occasional black runs with confidence. These weeks are designed for experienced Telemarkers looking to refine technique, improve style and explore more adventurous terrain.
